What is the MetalFX® Base ink? |

MetalFX® base ink is an essential ingredient for producing MetalFX® Technology. The ink is specially formulated, using a high lustre silver pigment, to produce a high quality sheen. The MetalFX® base ink is readily available to printers across the globe. Contact your local print manufacturer for details. Due to the inherent problems with overprinting CMYK onto silver, a range of silver base inks has been developed for each printing process (including flexo) with increased tack level. The tack level of the CMYK ink was reduced to bring it in line with the desired silver, so that the desired trapping would be effective and prevent rub off. A sealer is not required as the overprinted CMYK provides this and no metallic effect is lost. One MetalFX® - Base ink alongside the CMYK mix can be measured, matched and printed without the inconsistency problems associated with metallics. It means hundreds of metallic colours can be incorporated or blended into photography, logos, text and graphics time and again to the same precise quality. |
